OF ROOTS AND SHADOWS

the wind is howling and leaves fall to comfort the soil and it’s underground colonies of wee critters and mysterious fungi. we have our own blankets waiting on the couch while stand in the kitchen with a bubbling cauldron on the smooth electric stovetop. or a sporadically hissing instantaneous contraption. where did we even come from? if we know it or not our ancestors are crowded around us and as the night stretches from afternoon to late morning i swear we can here them mutter and hum. pulling out a few glass (or plastic) jars from the cabinet we season dinner, as a cloud passes over the window we are distinctly aware Of Roots and Shadows. we pop a pod of pumpkin in another gadget or maybe- fill a dusty kettle and light this candle.

top notes of peppercorn, clary sage and coriander twist around a heart of moss, patchouli and chamomile over the base of balsam.

one hundred percent soy wax. (at least) 10 hours burn time. hand poured in my kitchen. 4 oz plain black tin with lid and minimal branding keeps it chic. your home is You, this candle adds without distracting.

what’s with that coil of wick? i wrapped the wick around a bamboo stick to center it in the tin and while it needs to be trimmed before burning, leaving it long reminds you that i made this on purpose and with hope that your days get better and easier. before trimming the wick, i suggest you notice any other weird, cute, whimsical thing around you and before you blow it out, make a wish, obviously!
